apocalyptic event #1

*urghhhh*....*groaaannnnn*
"There out there!"
"shhhh! They will hear you!"

Now for the first apocalyptic event, the cause varies. Mainly from a genetic mutation by nuclear waste, science experiment gone wrong, alien infection or even inbreeding...but the outcome is the same never the less. Total Wipe Out (i love that show) Of The Human Race! Or more commonly known as Zombies.

Zombie apocalypse's are seen as one of the most damn right outrageous idea's and yet also possibly one of the most realistic.
When the idea of zombie apocalypse's first began they were about the living dead being brought back from the land of beyond by some curse, the full moon, Halloween or some mumbo jumbo like that. The zombies would only eat brains, and would walk stiff with arms stretched in front of them. NOT SCARY!
Although not scary, the idea of the living dead has been around since records of prophecies began with many African tribes believing many theories about the dead and them returning if not treated in a certain way.
You could also say that the Egyptians also believed in the dead returning due to preserving their emperors bodies?

Anyhow lets not get off track with trying to find the origin of this apocalyptic theory, and move onto why this idea is gaining more and more notability as a possible end of humanity.

Movies, computer games, comics and books have recently, more than ever, been obsessed with the idea of the wrath that zombies will bring to this world due to technological advances and scientific achievements of the past decade. With the prospect of nuclear warfare becoming more realistic and the goal of trying to cure illnesses and diseases such as cancer and the common cold, the thought that if something did go wrong in the near future with either of the two, then a mutation of somewhat may occur that can spread causing what we these days call Zombies.
For example: 28 days later, Resident evil, Dead Space, The Walking Dead and Left 4 Dead, Shaun Of The Dead.

Now A way of surviving this apocalypse could be to find your nearest weapons shop, stack up, and fight till death do you part. Or you could hide away underground or in a secret government base..
For those of you that truly believe there will be a zombie apocalypse I advise you to start digging and buying supplies that will last you a good 6 months.
However if your not too fussed about the threat of this apocalypse but still want some knowledge of how to survive then I suggest you watch the film ZombieLand =) It helped me survive my first night of the walking dead!
However, my question for this Apocalyptic event to you guys is this:
If there was one fictional character that could help you survive this apocalypse who would you choose and why?

Here are some examples;
The Doctor, because his Tardis would block out any infections and diseases, he's a real laugh and if a loved one has died I could just travel back in time and be with them etc

Mrs Doubtfire, because she is the bee's knee's at disguises and fake voices (blend in with the zombies and go bowling or something), can clean and cook, and is a genuine pleasure to be around.

Or if I'm feeling like a bad ass at the time and want to kick some zombie balls I would probably choose Richard Sharpe. I would choose him because he can escape from almost any scenario throughout many wars and is very good with a gun and sword.
